CUSHIONS

After you receive your items, unpack and store flat. Packaging naturally causes cotton items to temporarily lose length/width due to the lack of hard elements inside. If your item appears shorter upon arrival, press on it and push outwards to expand it until side edges get completely straight and not wrinkled.

PICK A SUITABLE BASE FOR CUSHIONS

Cushions perform great on solid surfaces.

NATURAL COTTON COMPRESSION

Each cotton-filled item will naturally compress about 10-15% in thickness during the first few months of use. We accommodate the cotton compression by stuffing our items and cushions densely, so they come thicker than advertised. To avoid dips forming where your body naturally lays or sits you simply need to:• Sit/sleep on all parts of the cushion so cotton is under equal pressure on each part to ensure even compression and avoid dips and humps• Flip and rotate cushions (head to toe & top to bottom) once weekly in the first months or until the cotton compresses, and regularly thereafter.• Compression stops after a few months of regular use. If you need more ‘cushioning’ after, you can easily add some f resh cotton filling through the zippers we place.

FIRMNESS & LOFT

If at any point you find the cushion to be too firm or if the cotton compresses unevenly or too much, you can easily reach in through the zippers to adjust the cotton filling or add cotton for a fresh fluffy layer.

CLEANING

Do not wash with the filling. Stains on the outside should be spot cleaned. Zip-off removable covers are machine washable, but we recommend professional dry cleaning for velvet covers. Wash at a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, without brighteners. Use low temperature (up to 90 F or 30 C). Do not bleach. Air dry completely. Steam iron.Once a year air out in the sun for a day, if possible. In case of a wetting incident take out the wet cotton filling, hand wash it gently in lukewarm water, and let it air out in the sun completely before putting it back. Handle carefully to avoid the fibers sticking and forming lumps. Cotton cushions are great for outdoor use but need to be protected from rain and direct sunlight.

KIDS MATTRESSES

After you receive your items, unpack and store flat. Packaging naturally causes cotton items to temporarily lose length/width due to the lack of hard elements inside. If your item appears shorter upon arrival, press on it and push outwards to expand it until side edges get completely straight and not wrinkled.

PICK A SUITABLE BASE FOR KIDS MATTRESSES

To ensure comfort and longevity, choose a suitable base. For kids mattresses we recommend solid wooden slats spaced at no more than 2” apart. This will provide support and sufficient air circulation. Slats spaced over 2” apart may cause the mattress/cushion to sag in the gaps, causing the cotton to compress unevenly, and you also may be able to feel the slats. Cushions perform great on solid surfaces.

TIPS FOR HUMID CLIMATES

Use a dehumidifier. Sun and air cotton-filled items more frequently. Use a vacuum cleaner to pull air through the fibers, to reduce any moisture accumulating inside.
