Cotton is a natural fiber and it is:

Avoid washing. Washing cotton will cause fibers to stick together, form clumps and will need to be carded. If you need to wash it, use lukewarm water and a mild detergent.

Initially, I was happy w the product but my pillow ended up with dirt and twigs inside. It was my fault that I washed the cotton so it’s flat now but I will try to fluff it up by hand. Evan does provide a quality product and customer service but just be aware of the natural state of the cotton.
